Boston has runners on second and third, one out, and the RUNNER ON SECOND BREAKS FOR THIRD, but all works out, For Boston, when Nomar Garciaparra gets a double to extend his hitting streak to 25 games~

The subtlieties of the game run rampant on this key play. Could Jason have adjusted his pitch once he saw the runner breaking for third so that Nomar could not hit the ball. This would have resulted in two Red Sox on third base, and would have put a kibash on their inning big time.

I'm asking, I don't know if it's possible. Is that the kind of thing that happens so rarely that the absolute split second needed to adjust the pitch is just not realistic in that situation.

I wonder if Nomar knew what was going on and swung on purpose! This is the kind of question that I would love to hear the answer to, but I doubt even one Indians Reporter will be keen enough to ask it.
